Card Quest places you in front of a board of cards where each confrontation against a faerie creature requires placing your cards in the right spot to flip the opponent's cards. From the first encounters on the campaign map, you advance from enemy to enemy, with a strong sense that no single game plays out exactly the same. You choose a card, you place it on a free space, then everything is decided by comparing the values. When your card has a higher number on the relevant side, it flips the neighboring card and brings it into your camp. Tension rises quickly, because a good placement can turn several situations in your favor, but a mistake leaves an immediate opening. You therefore seek to control space, protect your exposed cards and prepare sequences capable of swinging the whole board in a few moments. As the campaign progresses, the goal is not only to win each duel, but also to obtain new cards to fill the collection book devoted to faerie monsters. This progression gives real depth to the adventure, because every victory can enrich your pool and open more effective combinations for subsequent battles. Some opponents have different combat rules and entirely unique decks, which forces you to rethink your approach to a match rather than repeat the same recipe. Sometimes you think you have the game, then the enemy flips your own cards and steals the advantage before your eyes. You must then anticipate, accept sacrificing an area to better regain the center, or hold a strong card for the decisive moment.
